The College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) has launched a new Alumni Council designed to make and strengthen meaningful connections between its more than 34,000 alumni and the college. The council, which has 13 inaugural members, will support the mission of the college through engagement, mentorship, events and philanthropy.
“CHPS alumni are making an impact in healthcare and communities across Florida and beyond, and this council creates an exciting opportunity to strengthen those lifelong connections to the college. Our alumni also link us to the practice and professional worlds in exciting ways, so their input is critical to help ensure that we continue providing the most current, cutting-edge, and forward-looking education and preparation possible for our students.” Dean Matthew Theriot says. “We are proud to welcome this impressive group of professional alumni leaders whose passion and experience will help support our students, programs and future growth.”
“The launch of the CHPS Alumni Council is an exciting milestone in our work to continue to build a strong and engaged alumni network,” says Lovelyn Findley, assistant director of alumni engagement. “This council reflects the enthusiasm our alumni have for staying connected to CHPS and investing their time, experience and leadership in the future of the college.”
The founding council members include the following CHPS graduates:
Sasha Ruiz ’13 ’15 MA currently serves as a speech-language pathologist with Seminole County Public Schools. She earned a master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders in 2015. Ruiz will serve as the chair of the council.
Lauren Sobel ’12 ’17 DPT is the founder of MVMT Performance and Rehabilitation. She earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences in 2012 and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2017. She will serve as the Council’s vice chair of academic integration.
Catherine Allbritton ’13 ’17 DPT earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences in 2013 and a DPT in 2017. Allbritton will serve as a vice chair of the council. She currently serves as a regional director and physical therapist with CORA Physical Therapy Center. She will serve as the Council’s vice chair of engagement.
Brooke Johnson ’25 earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in 2025 and is pursuing her DPT at AdventHealth University. Johnson is a physical therapy technician at SportsCare. She will serve as the Council’s vice chair for communication and events.
Philip Agostinelli ’08 serves as a Rehab Clinical Operations Manager at Orlando Health. He earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences in 2008.
Shanick Augustin ’04 earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences in 2004. She currently works in the School of Technology Leadership and Innovation at UCF and as an athletic trainer on an as needed basis
Jason Benn ’08 ’12 DPT currently serves as a rehabilitation clinical operations manager at Orlando Health. Benn earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences in 2008 and a DPT in 2012.
Raven Jackson ’12 ’16 MS earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences in 2012 and a master’s degree in health services administration in 2016. She currently serves as director of regulatory and quality services at the American Health Care Association.
Sylvia Revangile ’15 ’19 ‘23 MSW is currently a district social worker for Orange County Public Schools. Revangile earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology in 2015, a bachelor’s degree in emergency crisis management in 2019, and a master’s degree in social work (MSW) in 2023.
Mya Simard ’24 serves as a program coordinator at AdventHealth Medical Group. She earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences in 2024.
Luke Thibault ’24 serves as a speech-language pathologist with Therapy World and Amergis Healthcare Staffing EMD Serono, Inc. Thibault earned a bachelor’s in communication sciences and disorders in 2024.
Lauryn Verica ’11 ’12 earned a bachelor’s in communication sciences and disorders in 2011 and a master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders in 2012. She serves as a program manager with AdventHealth.
Steve Thompson ’14 DPT, currently serves as the director of acute care and outpatient rehabilitation services for Orlando Health. He earned a DPT in 2014.
CHPS houses six nationally recognized programs, including health sciences, communication sciences and disorders, social work, kinesiology, physical therapy, and athletic training. The college offers a network of clinics, expert faculty, state-of-the-art learning facilities, and more to teach the next generation of healthcare providers. CHPS was established in 2018 following a university reorganization that realigned several academic programs housed in the former College of Health and Public Affairs.
