Alyssa Wilbanks’ childhood dream of becoming a doctor took an unexpected turn when she discovered her passion for the business aspect of public health during her studies at UCF. Driven by an understanding of the shortcomings in the disability industry and her desire to ensure that people get the services they need, Alyssa co-founded Unbound Disability Claims, an Orlando-based company that has revolutionized the disability claims process with its Disability Claim Builder. This tool empowers people with disabilities to independently navigate the complex claims process to secure the vital services they need faster. “It’s heartbreaking to know that almost 30,000 people lost their lives last year while awaiting their disability claims.”
Alyssa’s entrepreneurial spirit recently earned her 2nd place at the University of Central Florida’s (UCF) Joust, a prestigious new venture competition. Moreover, Alyssa made history as the first UCF student to clinch the Florida Venture Forum Collegiate Startup Competition, securing a cash award and the chance to showcase her business vision to investors.
A first generation college student, Alyssa is majoring in Health Sciences and is thrilled with her decision to attend UCF. “UCF was like a rocket ship that launched me onto the path of success.”
