The College of Health Professions of Sciences welcomes Taylor Owens as the new finance/budget director. He started in the position on March 4.

Owens joins the college with seven years of financial management experience, including five years in higher education. He most recently served as assistant budget director for AgResearch at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture where he managed the salary budget and maintained its integrity throughout the fiscal year. Prior to that, he served as a tax auditor for the State of Tennessee’s Department of Revenue and was responsible for compiling and analyzing data from external corporate taxpayers, leading audits and training other tax auditors.

“Director Owens brings a wealth of experience in higher education budgeting, grant management and strategic planning,” says Founding Dean Christopher D. Ingersoll. “We are excited about him joining the team and his bringing his expertise and energy to the college.”

In his role at CHPS, Owens will collaborate with leadership to steer the financial direction of the college and develop financial plans and forecasts to help meet strategic goals. He will oversee a 5-member team of budget analysts and travel/procurement coordinators.

“I have always had a passion for higher education and the mission it represents,” says Owens. “Being able to help serve a great community, support an outstanding faculty, and help build the foundation of our future leaders made coming to UCF an easy choice.”

Owens holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee. He earned a master’s degree in business administration from Middle Tennessee State University.

Owens likes to play baseball and competes in tournaments throughout the year.
