UCF and Orlando Health Residency Mentors Lauren Porteous and Logan Brown presented at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Combined Sections Meeting in Anaheim, California, on Feb. 13. Their session, “From GBS to CIDP: The ABCs of Demyelinating Neuropathies,” focused on the physical therapy management of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) and Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), two complex neurological conditions that affect the peripheral nervous system.
The session was co-sponsored by the APTA Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy and the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy, reflecting the topic’s relevance across both acute and rehabilitative care settings.
Porteous and Brown were joined by APTA Director Jamie Dyson and ABPTS’ Board of Commissioners Chair and Clinical Associate Professor and Neurologic Residency Director Morris “Rick” Beato, who is also ABPTS’ Board of Commissioners Chair, bringing together clinical, educational, and organizational leadership voices within the session.
The presentation highlighted the program’s growing presence and influence on national conversation in neurologic physical therapy practice.
