Degree programs cover healthcare professions that address prevention through diagnosis, to long-term treatment and rehabilitative care. Our students prepare for careers as speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, athletic trainers, social workers, doctors, dentists, strength and conditioning coaches, health educators, and more!

In our college, students from different programs learn together—just like they will in the real world as members of a healthcare team. Our majors include hands-on internships and high impact courses that blend learning with skill development through community service, research and clinical experiences.

Bachelor’s Degree Programs

The Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders provides a strong scientific foundation, covering speech, language, and hearing development and disorders.

This degree is the first step in speech-language pathology education and prepares students for the master’s in communication sciences and disorders and a career as a speech-language pathologist. It also prepares students for advanced studies in audiology.

Career Opportunities: This degree readies students to work in entry-level positions in health and human services at schools, hospitals, telehealth, research, and rehabilitation centers.

Kinesiology is the scientific study of the mechanics of human movement to improve function and performance as it relates to human health and wellness. It encompasses in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology prepares students to take national certifications in exercise physiology or strength and conditioning.

Career Opportunities: A kinesiology degree provides a foundation for healthcare roles such as physical therapist, athletic trainer, occupational therapist, exercise physiologist, personal trainer, dietician, physician’s assistant, sports psychologist, strength and conditioning coach, and chiropractor.

The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences includes a science-based curriculum which emphasizes practical application of knowledge and skills. The program is designed for students with an interest in human health who plan to pursue careers in medicine, clinical or behavioral health research, health promotion, public health, and many other health professions.

Career Opportunities: This degree provides a foundation for multiple careers in healthcare, including physician, physician assistant, dentist, pharmacist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, clinical/behavioral health researcher, public health, veterinarian, optometrist, and more.

Social Work is an academic discipline focused on enhancing human well-being and helping individuals, families and communities address challenges and improve quality of life.  The undergraduate degree in social work prepares students for entry-level generalist social work practice and emphasizes the foundational knowledge, values, and skills needed to help people, communities and organizations.

Career Opportunities: Social workers practice in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, nonprofits, child welfare agencies, and community service organizations.

A degree in social work prepares students to work in roles such as a caseworker, family support worker, residential counselor, child welfare worker and probation or correctional officer.

This interdisciplinary degree in healthcare integrates multiple health disciplines to provide a comprehensive understanding of health and wellness.

Students can combine courses from more than one of the following subjects in health: communication sciences and disorders (speech language pathology and audiology), health sciences, kinesiology, and social work.

Career Opportunities: The flexibility of the degree allows students to customize their coursework in the areas of their personal interest and career goals for non-clinical careers in health and wellness fields including public health, community health, medical assistant, health education, and other health related positions.

Athletic trainers are healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.

Students in this program gain experience at a wide variety of clinical sites and can participate in research and other interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

Career Opportunities: Athletic trainers are employed in a wide variety of settings including secondary schools, colleges and universities, outpatient rehabilitation facilities, medical offices, hospitals, clinics, the performing arts, the military, and public safety organizations.

The master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders is one of the largest programs in the country and the top supplier of speech-language pathologists in Florida. The program is one of the top ranked graduate schools in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Students in this program serve under the supervision of faculty clinicians to provide direct services to clients in the UCF Communication Disorders Clinic. They also have internships in hospitals, schools, and private clinics.

The Master of Science in Kinesiology allows students to obtain advanced knowledge in the exploration of human movement and applied exercise physiology. The program emphasizes exercise as medicine, and trains students to apply scientific practices and principles to support health and maximize performance across the lifespan.

Students experience hands on learning as part of an internship program or work alongside seasoned practitioners in a variety of settings including hospitals, health and wellness non-profits, and other medical sports organizations.

Career Opportunities: A master’s in kinesiology prepares students to pursue a career in exercise physiology, sport science, strength and conditioning, or to pursue a doctoral degree in a related field. Graduates work in hospitals, healthcare facilities, schools and fitness centers.

The Master of Social Work (MSW) program prepares generalist and advanced clinical social work practitioners to engage effectively in evidenced-based clinical social work practice that promotes optimal well-being in individuals, families and communities experiencing health and mental health challenges.

Students in the MSW program can take courses in the campus-based track or through an online track. The online MSW offers convenient solutions for those looking to earn their degree through distance education. Qualifying students also have the option to be considered into the “Advanced Standing” schedule.

Career Opportunities: Social workers practice in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, nonprofits, child welfare agencies, and community service organizations.

Doctoral Degree Programs

Examining Patient-Provider Language and Interactions in Healthcare (EXPLAIN) Lab

The Kinesiology, PhD program is designed to develop the next generation of teacher-scholars and professional leaders to advance the broad discipline of kinesiology through exploration of human movement, applied physiology, sports performance, sports medicine and clinical rehabilitation. Students will become proficient in conducting research, while interpreting and applying their findings to impact professional practice.

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program educates students to become competent, compassionate and ethical physical therapy practitioners. Students participate in extensive full-time clinical training, working under the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist at affiliated clinical education facilities, including acute care hospitals, sports medicine facilities, pediatric facilities, neurologic rehabilitation units and veteran/military hospitals. The top-ranked program boasts a 100% employment rate and 100% pass rates on the National Physical Therapy Examination.
