Overview

Go Baby Go! is a national, community-based research, design and outreach program that provides accessible, inexpensive and common sense solutions for kids and adults with limited mobility. The program was founded by Cole Galloway at the University of Delaware. Using an approach to combine high tech and low tech – or “go tech” – Cole designs assistive devices that help to restore physical independence for individuals with disabilities.

The UCF Go Baby Go! program began at the University of Central Florida, in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, in 2015 under the direction of pediatric specialist and DPT faculty member Dr. Jennifer Tucker. The program continues to find innovative solutions for children and adults with limited mobility.

The mission of UCF Go Baby Go! is to provide innovative, accessible, and practical options to improve the lives of individuals with limited mobility. UCF Go Baby Go! is dedicated to interdisciplinary research, community outreach, and advocacy for children and adults with motor impairments. Our goal is to provide meaningful opportunities for mobility, participation, and play for individuals of all abilities.

Levi is one of 16 children who received a customized UCF Go Baby Go! car during our December 4th Holiday Workshop. Modified cars not only help kids like Levi, who live with mobility challenges, get around on their own, they also provide therapeutic, cognitive and social benefits. #cars4kids

With the help of UCF Go Baby Go! sponsors, we are hoping to raise enough money to provide modified cars for kids just like Levi and to provide much-needed resources for children through our mobility lab.

Currently, we are equipped to modify Lightning McQueen models. These are 6v models that work best for children 6 months to 3 years old. We hope to be able to offer bigger cars very soon!

At this time, we do not have the resources or personnel to modify cars and ship nationally. However, there are several resources available online.

University of Delaware’s GoBabyGo website (founding group) includes several links such as a national and international contact list and information on how to bring a workshop to your area. You can also check out its Facebook page.

Just shoot us an email at: Jennifer.Tucker@ucf.edu and we’ll be happy to work with you to make returning your ‘loved’ car as easy as 1,2,3!
