Mighty Knights
College of Health Professions and Sciences
Who We Are
Mighty Knights is a UCF-based initiative co-directed by Dr. Julie Feuerstein, Assistant Professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders and Dr. Jennifer Tucker, Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Physical Therapy. Through generous philanthropic support from the Bailes Family Foundation, Mighty Knights was established to provide community-based, adaptive play experiences for children with complex communication and motor needs (CCMN) and their families.

How We Support Children and Families
Feuerstein and Tucker partner with community-based organizations, including local parks, playgrounds, farms, and schools, to create inclusive spaces for young children with CCMN and their families. A team of UCF undergraduate and graduate student volunteers from health sciences, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, and biology come together to provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and seating and positioning accommodations, so that all children can play, engage, and communicate successfully. Assistive technology support is provided by Carolyn Buchanan, Regional Coordinator for the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology (FAAST).
