Neural Basis of Speech Perception and Learning

Inclusion Qualifications:

  • You are 18-35 years old.
  • English is your primary language.
  • You have no known history of hearing loss.
  • You have no known history of neurological disorder (e.g. stroke, seizure) or head trauma.

Hearing in Noise

Inclusion Qualifications:

  • You are 18 years old or older
  • English is your primary language
  • You have no known history of hearing loss
  • You may struggle hearing when there is background noise
  • You have no known history of neurological disorder (stroke, for example) or head trauma (concussion, for example)

Measuring Aided Language Development

Communication Sciences and Disorders, FAAST Assistive Technology Center Deadline: Nov 1, 2026 Paid

Inclusion Qualifications:

  • 3;6 – 4;11 years of age
  • Speech that is very difficult to understand and would benefit from augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
  • Diagnosis of cerebral palsy with typical language comprehension or
  • Diagnosis of childhood apraxia with typical language comprehension or
  • Diagnosis of Down syndrome
  • Ability to directly select symbols on a tablet or speech generating device
  • Available to attend 1-hour intervention sessions at UCF twice weekly for 2 years.

Walking Exercise for Muscle Function

Inclusion Qualifications:

  • 18-65 years old
  • Diagnosed with MS
  • Can walk at least 10 meters (with or without assistive devices)
  • No recent MS relapse (past month)
  • No recent medication changes (past two months)
  • No cardiac, vascular, pulmonary, or additional neurological conditions
  • Not currently pregnant

  • Experiencing variable menstrual cycle length (>7 days different from normal) over the previous 6 months.
