Reliability of Functional Movement Screen and Core Exercise Movement Patterns Scoring Systems

Reliability of Functional Movement Screen and Core Exercise Movement Patterns Scoring Systems

The purpose of this study is to assess the reliability of the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Core Exercise Movement Pattern (CEMP) scoring rubrics. Reliability is an important measurement to ensure that the raters are reliable between each other while assessing the movement screen tasks as well as consistency in a single rater’s assessment overtime.

We expect that you will be in this research study for two separate sessions at least 24 hours in between each other. Both sessions will take approximately 1 hour to complete, and the entire study will take 2 hours total on two separate days.

You will be asked to report to the laboratory for both session days. During the first session day, you will be completing a questionnaires including your demographics, past injury history, and a confirmation of meeting the American College of Sports Medicine physical activity guidelines. You will also complete all seven tasks of the Functional Movement Screen and eight tasks of the Core Exercise Movement Pattern protocol two times each. During session two, you will only be completing the Functional Movement Screen and tasks of the Core Exercise Movement Pattern protocol two times.

Inclusion Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Considered “recreationally active” based on American College of Sports Medicine Physical Activity Guidelines

Exclusion Qualifications:

You may not participate in this research opportunity if any of the following applies to you:
