Acute Effects of Ischemic Preconditioning on Neuromuscular and Metabolic Fatigue Thresholds

The main purpose of this study is to examine the acute effects of ischemic preconditioning at low and high pressures on neuromuscular and metabolic fatigue thresholds. This study will consist of 4 visits, each lasting approximately 60 minutes (4 hours in total).

Inclusion Qualifications:

  • Are a recreationally active male or female (≥150 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous activity) between the ages of 18-35.
  • Are willing to come in for four visits

Exclusion Qualifications:

You may not participate in this research opportunity if any of the following applies to you:
  • Have no known cardiovascular (e.g. heart disease), pulmonary (e.g. asthma), metabolic, muscular, vascular, or coronary heart disease.
  • Do not regularly use prescription medication (excluding birth control) that could alter the effects of blood pressure (beta blockers).
  • Are not currently pregnant.
