Congratulations to Jason Torres, recipient of the September 2019 UCF Athletic Training Program Preceptor of the Month award.
As a student in the program, Torres was president of the UCF Student Athletic Trainer’s Association and a member of the Iota Tau Alpha Honor Society. He graduated cum laude and went on to gain valuable experience during an internship with the Orlando City Soccer Club. At OCSC he worked on rehabilitation of injuries and game coverage. He also had the opportunity to assist with the United Soccer League and the US Soccer Development Academy.
Torres is now employed full time as Head Athletic Trainer at Montverde Academy, and he is a committed preceptor for the program from which he graduated.
Though Torres is new at being a preceptor, he has already made an impression. His student, Lea Campopiano, a senior in the program, says Torres regularly asks questions about topics covered in the classroom to reinforce content. He works with her on competencies, teaches new skills, and patiently demonstrates techniques until they are completely understood. He shares information he learns from continuing education coursework and the National Athletic Trainer’s Association. According to Campopiano, “Mr. Torres instills confidence and brings out the best in me while making the clinical experience fun.”
The Program looks forward to working with Jason Torres for years to come as he helps educate future athletic trainers.
