Hearing Aid Noise Reduction
Improve Hearing Aids Through Research. The purpose of this study is to better understand the potential benefit of hearing aids, including their noise reduction features, on communicative function and cognitive function. We need your help if you:
- Currently wear hearing aids
- Use a smartphone
- Have a mild-to-severe hearing loss
- Are between 50 and 80 years old
- Fluent in English
- Want to help others by evaluating new hearing aid features
Participation will include five 1.5 to 3 hour appointments over 9 weeks:
- Full hearing evaluation
- Assess impacts of hearing loss in daily life
- Compensation
- Easy access
- Free parking
Inclusion Qualifications:
- You are between 50 and 80 years old
- You currently wear hearing aids
- You are a smartphone user
- You are a fluent English speaker
Exclusion Qualifications:
You may not participate in this research opportunity if any of the following applies to you:- Visible deformity of the outer ear
- Anticipated travel that would prevent participation in the field trial.
- Recent (<12 months) treatment for or with:
- traumatic brain injury
- epilepsy
- seizures
- otologic surgery
- fluctuating hearing loss
- labyrinthitis
- ototoxic medications
