The UCF College of Health Professions and Sciences confirmed William Hanney as chair for the Division of Physical Therapy. Hanney previously served as interim chair.
Hanney joined the Physical Therapy program as faculty in 2004. During his tenure, Hanney has developed a research agenda that informs clinical practice. His research seeks to investigate the implications of physical therapy treatment for those that suffer from neck and back pain.
“This transition… will provide me an opportunity to share my experiences and influence policy, which will guide the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in the future,” says Hanney. “This is an exciting opportunity and I look forward to the challenges.”
“The UCF Doctor of Physical Therapy program is fortunate to have such a talented and dedicated faculty member be willing to step into this important leadership role,” says Nicole Dawson, associate professor for the School of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy. “We know that Bill is the best person to drive our program forward to meet our goals, as he has been pivotal in the development of the culture, excellence and identity of our program.”
Hanney is an associate professor of physical therapy and serves as director for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He is a licensed physical therapist, a certified athletic trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist.
