Social Work professor Kim Anderson was honored with the Faculty Award from the Association of Baccalaureate Program Directors (BPD) during the organization’s annual conference in New Orleans, held Feb. 25–28. The award was presented during the conference’s awards luncheon on Feb. 28.

The BPD Faculty Award recognizes outstanding professional contributions to social work education and honors educators whose dedication and leadership strengthen the preparation of future social workers.

Anderson was recognized for her sustained commitment to teaching excellence, student mentorship and professional development. Her work integrates research, community engagement and evidence-based course design to enhance student learning across instructional formats.

Since joining UCF in 2015, Anderson has played a central role in advancing research-engaged education, trauma-informed pedagogy, and community-based scholarship.  She has mentored dozens of students and worked extensively with students as research collaborators and co-authors.  Anderson developed and published Safeguarding Student Well-Being: Integrating Trauma-Informed Pedagogy (TIP) to Promote Resilience and Retention in Social Work Education (2025), a framework outlining strategies for embedding trauma-informed principles across the social work curriculum.

The award was presented by BSW Program Director and Senior Instructor in the School of Social Work Robin Kohn.
