Beato Appointed to National Task Force on Specialty, Residency, and Fellowship Practice

Headshot of Morris “Rick” Beato.UCF and Orlando Health Neurologic Residency Director Morris “Rick” Beato has been appointed as the newest member of the Description of Specialty and Residency Practice Task Force of the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) and the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). The joint task force by the two commissions of the American Physical Therapy Association is responsible for overseeing the development of new and revalidation of previous descriptions of specialty, residency, and fellowship practice in the 11 board specialty areas of physical therapy. The Description of Specialty Practice (DSP) is a comprehensive document created by ABPTS and ABPTRFE based on the surveys of current board specialists to ensure consistency in the curriculum of residency and fellowship programs across the country.  

Beato served as a content expert and task force member for the current geriatric DSP and is currently part of the revalidation team for the next neurologic DSP. He is the only physical therapist in the last decade to serve in the DSP revalidation task force of two different board specialty areas. He was also voted as chair elect of the ABPTS Board of Commissioners.
