Graduate Assistant

Sean M. Lubiak is a doctoral candidate in Kinesiology under the mentorship of Dr. Ethan Hill in the Strategies for Therapeutic Rehabilitation and Optimization (STRONG) Laboratory. He earned his B.S. in Human Performance with a concentration in Exercise Physiology and his M.S. in Exercise and Nutrition Science from the University of Tampa. His dissertation research examines the impact of cycling with and without blood flow restriction on pulmonary gas exchange and muscle function in aerobically trained females. His broader research interests include arterial stiffness, ischemic preconditioning, and exercise interventions for individuals living with multiple sclerosis. His long-term goal is to pursue a tenure-track faculty position as an assistant professor.

Sean has co-authored peer-reviewed manuscripts and presented his work at national and international conferences. His research integrates applied physiology with advanced statistical approaches, including the use of Bayesian modeling. He has been supported through competitive fellowships and external funding for research, diversity initiatives, and validation projects, and has also received recognition through academic and professional awards. Dedicated to mentorship, Sean has guided undergraduate and graduate research assistants to national conference presentations and co-authorship on peer-reviewed publications. He contributes to the scholarly community as a reviewer for journals including Nature Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Physiology, Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism, and the International Journal of Exercise Science. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C) through the American College of Sports Medicine.
