Kinesiology Deadline: Aug 30, 2024 Paid

Inclusion Qualifications:

  • recreationally active (i.e. participating in moderate physical activity two-three days per week)
  • male
  • between the ages of 18-30 years old
  • no physical limitations performing strength assessments
  • determined to be healthy by PAR-Q+ and the HHQ

Exploring Responses to a Novel Resistance Exercise Protocol Designed to Elicit Muscle Damage

Health Sciences, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology & Rehabilitation Science Deadline: Jun 15, 2024 None

Inclusion Qualifications:

  • Healthy active male or female between the ages of 18-40 years old
  • Healthy as determined by the PAR-Q+, medical history questionnaire, and menstrual status questionnaire.
  • Participants will be required to be actively resistance training for a minimum of 6 months as defined by 3 resistance training sessions (muscle strengthening activities such as free weights, weight machines, or calisthenics, etc.) per week with at least one lower body session as determined by the training history questionnaire.
  • Female participants will be required to be premenopausal, with an identifiable onset of menses (early follicular phase) as determined by the menstrual status questionnaire.
  • Female participants will be required to be nonpregnant and not intend on becoming pregnant for the duration of their participation.
  • Willing to adhere to all pre-testing visit instructions including abstaining from exercise and alcohol, and limit caffeine consumption to ≤ 300mg for at least 24 hours prior to each testing visit.

Rehydration and Dehydration Recovery

Kinesiology Deadline: Jun 1, 2024 Paid

Inclusion Qualifications:

  • You are 18 to 40 years of age.
  • You have a body mass index (BMI) ≥ 18 and ≤ 30 kg/m2.
  • You report having a moderate to heavy sweat rate when physically exerted or in extreme heat.
  • You are male or non-pregnant, non-lactating female, at least 6 weeks postpartum prior to screening visit. A urine pregnancy test is required for all females unless you are not of childbearing potential. • If female, you have a regular menstrual cycle, >21 days and <35 days in length.
  • You are willing to consume grape-flavored beverages during the study.
  • If you are on chronic medication such as lipid-lowering, thyroid medication or hormone therapy, the dosage must be constant for at least 2 months prior to screening and baseline visit. You must be able to maintain medication type and dose throughout duration of study.
  • You are weight-stable for the two months prior to screening visit (has maintained current body weight within 4 kg or about 9lbs).
  • You must voluntarily sign and date this informed consent form, approved by the UCF IRB, and provided applicable privacy regulation authorization prior to any participation in the study.
  • You have no known intolerance or allergy to ingredients in study products.
