Catherine Sarkozy is a registered dietitian nutritionist, board-certified specialist in pediatric nutrition and instructor for the College of Health Professions and Sciences at the University of Central Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Science with Honors in Nutrition and Dietetics from Marywood University (Scranton, PA) where she completed an accredited dietetic internship and an undergraduate thesis research project exploring intuitive eating practices and opinions of dietitians in the northeast. She later earned her Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Central Michigan University where she completed grant-funded research focusing on the impact of including a nutrition focused physical assessment to identify adult malnutrition.
Sarkozy previously worked as a clinical dietitian with the Lehigh Valley Health Network (Allentown, PA) where she specialized in pediatrics and was part of the organ transplant team. Sarkozy served as a nationwide subject matter expert in malnutrition for Sodexo and created pathways to improve malnutrition assessment, diagnosis, and reimbursement. She later became a neonatal ICU specialty dietitian at Orlando Health’s Winnie Palmer Hospital caring for critically ill preterm infants requiring nutrition support.
Sarkozy has given nutrition-related guest lectures and presentations at the local, state and national levels. She has mentored dozens of interns, medical residents and prospective nutrition students. She is also a recipient of the Abbott Nutrition Malnutrition Award, Sodexo Award for Clinical Excellence and Sodexo Spirit of Progress Award. Sarkozy currently serves with the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group and is a pediatric nutrition subject matter expert for the Commission on Dietetic Registration’s specialty exam development.
As an instructor, Sarkozy is looking forward to sharing her clinical experiences and mentoring students towards discovering passion and progressive innovation for the future of healthcare.
