Residency Faculty and Resident’s Research Posters Presented at FPTA State Conference

The research projects of residency faculty and previous residents were on full display at the Florida Physical Therapy Association Annual Conference and Assembly of Representatives last September..

New neurologic resident Dr. Chloe Artrip’s presentation was on the application of the clinical practice guideline for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo in a patient with dizziness.

New neurologic resident Dr. Logan Brown’s presentation was on the application of high-intensity locomotion interventions in an acute care stroke patient.

Previous resident Dr. Sarah Kollas’ presentation was on the management of a patient with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy in inpatient rehabilitation.

Previous resident Dr. Uzair Hammad’s residency capstone project with Dr. Christina Voigtmann, residency faculty Dr. Rolando Lazaro and Clinical Associate Professor Dr. Rick Beato was presented as a poster examining the effects of inpatient rehabilitation on balance and walking speed in individuals with cerebellar stroke.

Residency faculty Dr. Rachel Gonzalez, residency faculty Dr. Kristen Cezat and previous resident Dr. Uzair Hammad’s poster was on physical therapy plans and outcomes following spinal cord injury secondary to white coat syndrome.

Residency faculty Ms. Marissa Conrad, Assistant Professor Dr. Abigail Wilson and Clinical Associate Professor Dr. Rick Beato’s poster with UCF DPT students was on the influence of sleep on balance, exercise tolerance and dynamic visual acuity in concussion rehabilitation.

Clinical Associate Professor Dr. Rick Beato, Assistant Professor Dr. Abigail Wilson and residency faculty Dr. Rolando Lazaro’s poster with UCF students was on the effects of amplitude-based training on mobility, functional strength and balance confidence in Parkinson’s patients with and without deep brain stimulation.

Clinical Associate Professor Dr. Rick Beato’s poster with the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy’s PTA Advance Proficiency Task Force was on advanced skills and demographic profiles of physical therapist assistants in neurologic physical therapy.

Clinical Associate Professor Dr. Rick Beato’s poster with Dr. Rose Babcock and UCF DPT students was on mobility outcomes in amplitude training of an individual with progressive supranuclear palsy.
