In this third year of study at the University of Florida’s College of Pharmacy, Andre Zibner, a UCF Health Sciences alumnus (’21), is passionate and excited about his chosen career. Andre’s interest in becoming a pharmacist was sparked by the personalized, patient-centered care delivered by an oncology pharmacist who was on the team caring for a family member diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. “Experiencing how that pharmacist worked with us in our time of need inspired me to say, hey, I want to do that. I want to be the person that helps patients and families when everything seems lost.”
Reflecting on his time at UCF Andre says, “The courses I took as a Health Sciences major gave me a strong foundation for pharmacy school.” In addition to courses like pharmacology, nutrition, microbiology, and anatomy and physiology, Andre noted that learning how to write a research proposal for his UCF research methods course gave him an advantage over many of his pharmacy school classmates who had never been exposed to research proposal development.
As a former Vice President of the Pre-Pharmacy Society, Andre emphasizes the importance of getting involved in experiences outside of class. He also encourages students to consider the legacy they want to leave in all areas of their lives.
