Evyn Callahan is a doctoral candidate in Kinesiology under the mentorship of Dr. Colby Mangum in the Rehabilitation, Athletic Assessment, and Dynamic Imaging (READY) Lab. Her research focuses on healthcare accessibility and injury prevention in dance populations. Current studies examine dancers’ perceptions and barriers to healthcare, relationships between core musculature and balance, and the application of movement screenings. She has also led survey-based studies exploring the relationships between dance experience, athletic participation, and injury history. More broadly, Evyn aims to improve dancers’ health by advancing evidence-based practices that inform both clinicians and the dance community.
As a certified athletic trainer and former collegiate dancer, Evyn seeks to bridge the gap between research, clinical practice, and the unique needs of dancers. She has disseminated her work through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at local, national, and professional conferences, including the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the American College of Sports Medicine. She has also valued contributing directly to the UCF dance community through presentations at UCF Celebrates the Arts. In addition to research, Evyn teaches undergraduate courses in kinesiology and mentors research assistants and capstone students in the Master of Athletic Training Program.
