Advancing Huntington’s Disease Care

The Huntington’s Disease Society of America has designated our clinics as a Huntington’s Disease Center of Excellence, one of about 60 in the country. We provide services to HD patients and their families throughout the Central Florida region through our two clinic locations. We offer comprehensive care from a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to best support HD patients’ needs. Our approach is HD care is driven by research, and facilitated by experts in neurology, mental health, physical therapy and speech-language pathology to improve the lives of those affected by HD.

About Huntington’s Disease

Huntington disease is the most common genetic neurodegenerative disorder, affecting approximately 1 in 10,000 people of European and Hispanic descent. While Huntington disease is inherited, it can affect people regardless of family history. Recent studies in the general population have revealed that as many as 1 in 400 people carry a mutation conferring a small risk of developing Huntington disease late in life or a greater risk of the transmission of the disease to children. This means that as the population ages, we may discover a higher prevalence of HD than previously thought.

OUR GOAL

Deliver pioneering clinical education and practice to improve individual and community health and wellness.
