CHPS RESEARCH STUDIES
Pain Modulatory Profiles in Stretching in Healthy Participants
The purpose of this study is to examine how stretching reduces the perception of pain in asymptomatic individuals. The study is completed at the Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory on the UCF campus and requires you to attend three sessions that are approximately 1-2 hours each. You will complete forms and undergo assessment of your pain sensitivity through exposure to heat, cold, and pressure stimuli. You will then complete a cold-water immersion task and different intensities of a stretch to your neck. Your sensitivity to pressure will then be examined on your forearm, neck, and foot for up to fifteen minutes.
