Comparing the Effects of Yoga Nidra to Yoga Nidra with Pain Acceptance Intention and Motor Imagery on Pain Outcomes
The primary purpose of this study is to determine if yoga nidra alone or combined with a pain acceptance statement or visualization can improve pain outcomes, well-being, and sleep.
We expect you will be in this research study for a duration of 1 week (4 hours). You will attend 1 visit to the lab on day 1 for 2 hours. During the first visit, we will screen your eligibility for participation by asking you to complete blood pressure, and sensory screening. If you meet the criteria, you will undergo baseline testing, consisting of pre-intervention questionnaires, testing of your sensitivity to heat, cold, and pressure, undergo a yoga nidra intervention and complete post intervention questionnaires. You will then practice a 20-minute YouTube video for your assigned yoga nidra intervention at your convenience 1x per day for the study duration week. Each day you will confirm watching the video through an email link sent with REDCap at approximately 9 am. After completing your online yoga nidra intervention on day 7, you will receive a final email via REDCap to complete a pain outcomes questionnaires that will take approximately 5 mins.
