24-Hour Activity Behaviors in Early Postpartum
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between daily activities (physical activity/exercise, sitting, and sleep), depressive symptoms, and quality of life in the early postpartum period. We would like to examine how daily activity behaviors are influenced by self-regulation skills. Further, we will determine if daily activity reports are accurate coming from an activity watch compared to self-report measures in early postpartum mothers.
You will be in this research study for a total of eight days. During that time, you will come to our lab at UCF for two in-person visits. Study visit 1 will take approximately 60 minutes. We will conduct measures of your physical health like blood pressure, height, and weight, ask you to complete tasks that measure how well you can feel your heartbeat by applying electrodes to your ankle and wrist area, and have you complete online surveys. You will also get an activity tracker to wear on your non-dominant wrist for seven days. In between visits you will complete online surveys. After that, you will come back for a second visit which will take approximately 30 minutes to return the activity tracker and fill out three more online surveys about how you are feeling. Your total active participation time is no more than 2 hours and 40 minutes over the course of 8 days.
