Shawn Olmstead is an American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Central Florida (UCF). She earned her AA in Interpreting for the Deaf from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, her BS in Exceptional Education from UCF, and her MS in Interpreting for the Deaf from the University of North Florida. Shawn joined UCF in January 2024.

With over 20 years of experience teaching ASL at various educational levels, Shawn is dedicated to creating effective and engaging learning experiences for her students. She has also shared her expertise as a presenter at numerous conferences across Florida.
