Faculty and Staff

Inbal Leibovits is a postdoctoral researcher in the Violence Against Women Faculty Cluster at the University of Central Florida. She obtained her Ph.D. in 2023 from the Department of Communication Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. Her scholarship explores the civic participation and political advocacy of marginalized communities, particularly individuals and communities experiencing homelessness. Leibovits’ research considers homelessness as a state of liminal citizenship and aims to explain how civic participation can promote a sense of belonging and how it can ultimately contribute to solving homelessness. As a communication scholar, Leibovits is particularly interested in the communication between different stakeholders in policymaking processes and in social change organizations. Her research employs ethnographic and rhetorical research methods and is based on fieldwork among homeless civic advocates and local organizations in the city of Austin, Texas. At UCF,  Leibovits studies experiences of housing insecurity among domestic violence survivors and collaborates on grant-funded research assessing existing housing solutions and identifying pathways toward long-term housing stability. Before obtaining her Ph.D., Leibovits spent over a decade in leadership positions in civil society organizations in Israel. Additionally, she is a trained conflict resolution facilitator with an extensive background leading dialogue groups from the Middle East.
