Anna Valdes is an Associate Lecturer in Kinesiology at the UCF School of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Sciences. Valdes received her a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Florida, a master’s degree in Physical Education, and Doctorate in Exercise Science Education, from UCF. She is a certified strength and conditioning specialist, personal trainer, group exercise instructor, and lifestyle and weight management consultant. In her 30 year tenure in the fitness industry, she has served a wide variety of individuals with special considerations for exercise as well as athletes. Her current research interest is in the professional preparation of Sport and Exercise professionals to increase their competency in providing safe and effective training to their athletes and clients. In particular, the knowledge needed to prevent and recognize exercise stress that may lead to medical emergencies. In addition to her position at UCF, Valdes enjoys teaching group exercise classes for the Central Florida YMCA.
