For twins Ian and Chelsie Lucas, attending UCF was a dream come true. “UCF was our number one choice. We loved the location, the diversity, and all the opportunities if offers.”

Prior to graduating from UCF, Ian was accepted to the Doctor of Physical Therapy (PT) program at Florida International University, and Chelsie was accepted to the University of Florida’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OT) program. Chelsie and Ian note that their focus and approach to learning in graduate school is not the same as when they were undergrads, but they both wholeheartedly agree that their health sciences major prepared them for success. In reminiscing about their time at UCF, they advise current students to “take it all in – you’re making memories that will last a lifetime and the time goes fast.”

In addition to their vision of being the best clinician practitioners possible and one day owning a joint PT – OT practice that provides high-quality, patient-centered care, Ian and Chelsie aspire to pay it forward. “We would love to create a foundation that provides support and resources for minority students who are looking to pursue higher education. We’re noticing in both of our programs that diversity is not where it needs to be due to a lot of barriers. We want to help change that.”
