Graduate Assistant

Brandi Antonio is a doctoral student in Kinesiology working under the mentorship of Dr. Jeffrey Stout in the Physiology of Work and Exercise Response (POWER) Laboratory. Her dissertation research examines the effects of sodium bicarbonate supplementation on endurance running performance. She has co-authored peer-reviewed publications in journals such as the Strength and Conditioning Journal, Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, and Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, covering topics including pain assessment methodology, supplementation, and pain perception after aerobic exercise. In addition to her research, Brandi serves as a graduate research and teaching associate, where she has taught courses such as Assessment and Evaluation in Kinesiology and Personal Fitness and Wellness, and assisted with courses including Exercise Physiology and Exercise Prescription for Special Populations. She has presented her work at national and international conferences, including the International Society of Sports Nutrition and the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and has received recognition such as UCF’s Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award, the Delores A. Auzenne Fellowship, and the Graduate Dean’s Fellowship. Brandi also contributes to the field as a reviewer for journals including the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, International Journal of Exercise Science, and the Journal of the Society for Sports Neuroscience.
