Experience Barcelona while Earning Credits towards Your Degree
As part of the UCF Barcelona Center, students get the chance to experience Barcelona, Spain while earning credits towards their degree during the summer. Students register for UCF courses, and then travel with their professor who will teach the course in Barcelona, Spain.
In addition to learning the course content, students learn from and interact with local experts through site visit and guest lectures. The program also includes weekly cultural excursions to fully embrace the study abroad experience. Studying abroad in Barcelona offers students invaluable experiences that will greatly enhance students’ academic, personal and professional growth.

HSC2524 Introduction to Human Disease
This 3-credit course covers the foundation concepts related to understanding the basics of human disease through the lens of public health biology, which includes topics related to the nature of human disease and mechanisms that lead to compromised human health. It allows students to gain a global perspective of health and culture via experiential learning, and develop highly valued professional skills, such as intercultural communication and adaptability, and a taste of healthcare abroad.
The course also includes academic and experiential learning activities in Barcelona such as visits to diverse health centers that are related to the course contents.

PET4143 Current Issues & Trends in Kinesiology
This 3-credit course addresses some of the changes in diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, patient relationships, establishing rapport, ethics/morals, and developing career options. It allows students to address the different approaches to medical care, paramedical treatments, and athletic communities in Europe as opposed the American approach.
The course also includes academic and experiential learning activities in Barcelona such as visits to Olympic sports museum, Olympic performance training center, physiotherapy rehabilitation center, as well as lecture by sport psychologist.

HSC3147 Introduction to Pharmacology
This 3-credit course covers the examination of how medications are used to treat various conditions affecting different systems of the body. It allows students to engage with patient case studies solving real world scenarios, and observe the cultural differences in and approaches to patient healthcare.
The course also includes academic and experiential learning activities in Barcelona such as visit to community retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, IV infusion center or clinic, and Galenicum / Novartis pharmaceuticals.

PEM2431 Beginning Judo
This 2-credit course covers the study and application of basic skills; falling, throwing, ground techniques, basic self-defense, terminology, philosophy and fitness training involved in the Olympic sport of Judo. It allows students to learn a new way and acquire skills to be physically fit, as well as gain understanding of the influence Judo’s inclusion at the Olympic Games, including the introduction of women’s competition at the 1992 Olympiad in Barcelona.
The course also includes academic and experiential learning activities in Barcelona such as Judo training sessions, social activities with Judo practitioners, guest lecture by Olympian, and visit to Olympic Judo venue.
