Examining Test-Retest Reliability of Bioimpedance Between Various Electrodes and Postures
This study is being done to evaluate reliability/agreement between different electrodes during bioelectrical assessments, between different postures during bioelectrical assessments, and between different bioelectrical estimations of body compositions and a criterion estimation of body composition (via a multi-compartment model, combining data from bioelectrical impedance analysis and BodPod assessments). We believe the results of this research study will better inform how we conduct bioelectrical impedance assessments and how we estimate body composition from those assessments.
We expect that you will be in this research study for a single visit lasting approximately 75-90 minutes. For the study visit, you will be asked to arrive having fasted for at least 3 hours, abstained from caffeine for at least 12 hours, and avoided alcohol and strenuous physical activity/exercise for at least 24 hours prior to your visit. You will also be asked to arrive wearing light and compressive athletic clothing (e.g., compressive shirt, compressive shorts/pants, leggings, sports bra, etc.) and be free of hair on your right hand and foot. If you arrive to the study visit with hair on your right hand and/or foot, you will be given the option of either rescheduling your study visit for another day or using a single-use disposable razor and shaving cream (provided by the research team) to shave your right hand and foot, removing the hair. During the study visit, you will complete brief questionnaires, provide a urine sample to ensure adequate hydration, complete several bioelectrical impedance assessments in supine, seated, and standing positions, and complete a BodPod assessment.
Inclusion Qualifications:
