CHPS RESEARCH STUDIES
Dual-Task Balance after ACL Reconstruction
This research looks at whether people who’ve had an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) have different balance and eye movements when making decisions. We want to compare how these persons perform versus someone who has never had an ACLR. We expect you will be in this research study for one in person visit (up to ~2 hours of active participation time).
You will be asked to fill out questionnaires during the session about activity level, perceived knee function, and hand/foot dominance. Then, your ability to balance on one leg while completing a cognitive task on screen will be tested, with eye movements tracked throughout.
Inclusion Qualifications:
ACL Group:
- Age of 18-35 years
- History of only one ACL reconstruction within the previous 2 years
- Medical clearance for return to unrestricted activity
Uninjured Group:
- Age of 18-35 years
- No history of lower limb surgery
- No history of significant lower limb injury within previous 6 months (defined as seeking medical attention, or missing >3 consecutive practices or games)
