Xiayu Summer Chen is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Central Florida. She earned her PhD in Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is a trained oncology social worker.
Dr. Chen’s research advances digital equity and addresses health disparities among diverse aging populations. Her work examines factors that influence technology acceptance among older adults and focuses on developing culturally responsive digital interventions. Drawing on interdisciplinary approaches, her current work centers on artificial intelligence–based conversational agents to promote well-being and social inclusion among marginalized older adults.
