\n\t\t\t\tMSW Program Admissions\t\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n[vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” gap=”10″ active_section=”0″ collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”What is the difference between Program and Track?” tab_id=”1544201849571-be16ebbe-10bc”][vc_column_text]The UCF School of Social Work has an MSW Program. Within its MSW Program, the School has tracks, or instruction methods, that it offers; (1) MSW Campus-based Track (2) Online MSW Track[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What GPA is required?” tab_id=”1645717052322-d1ab62f0-594b”][vc_column_text]A competitive GPA is required for admission to the MSW program.<\/p>\n

Advanced Standing:<\/strong> The minimum qualifying GPA for Advanced Standing is a 3.3 GPA in the last 60 credits. However, because this is a competitive program, a GPA of 3.3 does not guarantee admission.<\/p>\n

Full-time\/Part-time:<\/strong> The minimum qualifying GPA for the full-time\/part-time tracks is a 3.0 GPA in the last 60 credits. However, because this is a competitive program, a GPA of 3.0 does not guarantee admission.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Do I need to take the GRE?” tab_id=”1544201849604-047148a4-043d”][vc_column_text]No, we do not require the GRE for admission into the MSW program.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Does it matter what my bachelor\u2019s degree is in?” tab_id=”1544201956907-c2c36ddb-5b78″][vc_column_text]Applicants to the MSW Program can have a bachelor\u2019s degree in any discipline as long as their bachelor\u2019s is from an accredited institution and meet the prerequisite course requirements. Qualifying applicants in Advanced Standing must have received a BSW degree from a CSWE accredited program within the last six years.
\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”If I am missing a prerequisite course, can I still be considered for the MSW program?” tab_id=”1591726024601-c6b0afc1-dd83″][vc_column_text]Yes, if you have at least three of the four required prerequisite courses completed by the application deadline with proof by transcript. In other words, applicants who have submitted a \u201ccomplete\u201d application by the application deadline will be reviewed, and possibly admitted, if the applicant has no more than one outstanding prerequisite course to complete.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How can I find out if some of my courses will be accepted for the prerequisite requirements?” tab_id=”1591726063658-208dfec4-1013″][vc_column_text]Send an email to: mswadmissions@ucf.edu<\/a> and include the course title, course description, and track you are applying for, and we will let you know if the class will be accepted toward any of the required prerequisites.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can I complete missing prerequisites after enrolling in the graduate program?” tab_id=”1591726091094-ebf86729-a75b”][vc_column_text]Yes, if admitted, you may complete the prerequisite course before your clinical year. We highly recommend that you complete these courses before you begin the MSW program since the course load is heavy and adding classes could be overwhelming for many students.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Does it matter if I take the prerequisite courses at a community college or a four-year institution?” tab_id=”1591726122864-67668e14-94c2″][vc_column_text]You can complete the prerequisite courses at any accredited institution, but you must have the official transcripts sent to the College of Graduate Studies once the course is completed.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can I work while in the MSW program?” tab_id=”1591726158840-a7230413-0b37″][vc_column_text]Graduate social work education is both difficult and time consuming; a typical full-time student\u2019s week includes approximately twelve (12) hours in the classroom, twenty-four (24) in outside preparation for classes (readings, assignments, etc.), and approximately fifteen (15) hours of internship. Outside employment adds to an already demanding workload. The faculty caution students in seeking or maintaining outside employment.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Does the School offer night\/weekend field placements?” tab_id=”1591726193311-220a5e6d-70c6″][vc_column_text]The School of Social Work is under no obligation to provide such placements. Students must complete at least 50% of their field hours during the agency\u2019s normal business hours. Evening (after 5pm) and weekend placements are extremely limited. Consequently, field placements cannot be guaranteed to students who require evening and weekend placements.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How do I upload my letters of recommendation?” tab_id=”1591726230155-e79c7440-ac52″][vc_column_text]Once you get into the online application, the process for the letters of recommendation should become clear. Find the link in the online application to enter the names and email addresses of your recommenders. The College of Graduate Studies (CGS) will email your recommenders with an attached rating form and a link where a letter can be uploaded. Your recommenders can then send their rating form and letter directly back to the CGS electronically.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can I send my application materials directly to the School of Social Work?” tab_id=”1591726269833-36c18cb9-e233″][vc_column_text]No, all materials must be submitted to the College of Graduate Studies through the online application. Please do not send any application documents to the School of Social Work. We recommend that you submit your application and fee first before submitting any supporting documents (transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.).[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What does the priority deadline mean?” tab_id=”1591726297049-40e783e4-82b4″][vc_column_text]The Graduate Catalog lists a fall priority deadline in the application deadlines table which refers to students who wish to be considered for university fellowships or assistantships. \n\t\t\t\tMSW Campus-based Program\t\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n[vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” gap=”10″ active_section=”0″ collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Do I need to take the GRE?” tab_id=”1544202013701-fd8dd1f1-12b3″][vc_column_text]No, we do not require the GRE for admission into the MSW program.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What modes of instruction does the Campus-based Program offer?” tab_id=”1544202013762-a43b2047-8613″][vc_column_text]The campus-based MSW program offers courses in person on the UCF main campus as well as mixed mode (on campus bi-weekly) and online.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”When are courses offered in the Campus-based Program?” tab_id=”1544202111131-4ba25213-6eb9″][vc_column_text]Courses are offered in 3-hour blocks of time once a week. There are morning, afternoon, and evening sections available (e.g., 7:30am \u2013 10:20am, 10:30am-1:20pm, 1:30pm-4:20pm, 6:30pm-9:20pm\u2026etc.). Therefore, it may be possible to complete two courses on one day to limit commute time.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How many field education hours must be completed?” tab_id=”1544202136178-0cd72e3d-2a2d”][vc_column_text]For Advanced Standing students, a 600-hour clinical internship is required.
\nAll other students in the Full-time\/Part-time MSW program must complete 1000 hours (400 generalist internship hours) and (600 clinical internship hours).<\/p>\n

The School of Social Work will also email opportunities for Graduate Assistantships or Graduate Research Assistantships to current students when they become available on campus.
