<\/a><\/h2><\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Research\u00a0interests include\u00a0elder care workforce development, person -centered care practices,\u00a0global social work practice, and\u00a0scholarship of teaching and learning.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]Robert Purdie<\/strong>, MSW, Doctoral Program in Public Affairs \u2013 Social Work Track student, is conducting data analysis and manuscript preparation for anticipated engagement with a village model promoting aging in place. This study examines predictors of older adults\u2019 anticipated engagement with a service program to promote aging in place. The project was conducted in collaboration with a local membership organization, The Neighbors Network, that provides social support, services and opportunities for productive engagement for older adults in Winter Park. The study was funded by the Richard Tucker Gerontology Award from LIFE at UCF.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][\/vc_section][vc_section disable_element=”yes”][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1537818312989{margin-bottom: 15px !important;padding-right: 15px !important;padding-left: 15px !important;}”]

<\/a><\/h2><\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Research interests include\u00a0access to psychosocial care in health care settings,\u00a0health professions\u2019 training to improve psychosocial care delivery,\u00a0quality of life for cancer survivors, and curriculum outcomes in social work.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]Jorge Hidalgo<\/strong>\u00a0collaborated (with Gail Adorno, Ph.D., University of Texas, Arlington) on our qualitative research project analyzing postings by oncology social workers\u2019 list-serve.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Angela Newland<\/strong>\u00a0completed a research project for her independent study on a survey of social work part-time faculty to assess their support and mentorship needs (in collaboration with Rebekah Hazlett-Knudsen, Ph.D.)[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Yvi Goddard (BSW, \u201914)<\/strong>\u00a0completed research for an Honors\u00a0in the Major thesis under the\u00a0guidance of Professor Burg.\u00a0The\u00a0national Council of Social Work\u00a0Education accepted\u00a0a poster on their research for presentation at the\u00a0organization\u2019s annual meeting\u00a0in October 2014.\u00a0View their poster[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][\/vc_section][vc_section full_width=”stretch_row” disable_element=”yes”][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1537818333253{margin-bottom: 15px !important;padding-right: 15px !important;padding-left: 15px !important;}”]

<\/a><\/h2><\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Research interests include pediatric health and mental health, infant mental health, chronic illness in children and parental stress, and Latino children and families.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]Liana Menendez<\/strong>\u00a0presented her Honors\u00a0in the Major thesis, \u201cLatino Cultural Competency in Social Work Education: A Review of the Literature,\u201d to a class taught by\u00a0her thesis adviser, Professor Ana Leon.\u00a0Menendez\u2019s thesis earned her a $1,000 HIM scholarship from UCF\u2019s Burnett Honors College in 2015.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Shannon Holliker (MSW \u201909, ABD)\u00a0<\/b>collaborated on research and\u00a0<\/b>coauthored with Professor Leon onPediatrician Identification of Developmental Delays and Other Related Concerns\u00a0<\/i>published in the Journal of Social Service Research in 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jennifer Ackerman, (BSW, \u201913)\u00a0<\/b>completed research,\u00a0Social Work Student Comfort with Gay & Lesbian Families<\/i>\u00a0for an Honors in the Major thesis under the guidance of Professor Leon and NASW Florida accepted a paper on their research in 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n
