Athletic Training Preceptor of the Month: Rey Malave ’11
Congratulations, Ray Malave, for earning the UCF Athletic Training Program’s first Preceptor of the Month award!
Malave (B.S. in athletic training ’11) is an athletic trainer with CORA Rehabilitation.
Praise for Malave
Elaine Judy, director of sports medicine and fellow athletic trainer at Winter Park High School, nominated Malave for the award. She said he always comes to work with a great attitude and takes everything in stride. He spends extra time with the students, and he goes into detail on why he chooses certain treatments or rehabilitation for his patients. He arrives early so he can be available to help students with competencies, makes sure he is up to date with the latest medical information and is an overall caring preceptor.
Kelsie Riveron, a current student, also has nothing but praise for Malave. She said he is an absolute pleasure to have as a preceptor. He is a wonderful instructor who brings positive energy into the athletic training room. Riveron considers Malave a great role model, and she admires his attitude and charisma even in difficult situations.
The award was a complete surprise for Malave. Just prior to Winter Park’s November 2 football game, Judy announced the award over the loudspeakers. Riveron and Judy presented Malave with a certificate and a goodie bag of items athletic trainers usually keep on hand.
